AN ANALOGUE ADDRESSABLE DUAL OPTICAL SMOKE AND HEAT DETECTOR FOR USE WITH CONTROL PANELS. THE OPTICAL SMOKE DETECTOR UTILISES THE LIGHT SCATTER SENSING PRINCIPLE USING A LIGHT EMITTING DIODE AS THE SENSING ELEMENT.

THE HEAT SENSOR USES TWO THERMISTORS OF LOW THERMAL MASS. THE DETECTOR CAN BE SET TO HAVE ITS OWN ADDRESS ON A FIRE ALARM NETWORK: THE ADDRESS CORRESPONDS TO A ROOM, CORRIDOR OR PHYSICAL LOCATION.

THE FIRE ALARM NETWORK CONTROL PANEL CONTAINS A LIST OF THE SENSOR ADDRESSES AND QUERIES EACH OF THEM SEQUENTIALLY TO RETRIEVE THE STATUS OR CONDITION OF THE SENSOR SITED AT EACH ADDRESS.

IF THE SENSOR IS FOUND TO BE IN A FIRE CONDITION THEN AN ALARM AND LOCATION WARNING IS GENERATED AS REQUIRED BY THE CONTROL PANEL, USING OTHER AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT.
